Fiona Stanley Hospital

Entry Statement

Highly visible coloured demarcation

Project Brief

Australia’s newest and largest public hospital, the $2 billion Fiona Stanley Hospital in Murdoch, required a safe and highly visible skid resistant surface for its main entrance paving. Servicing the growing communities south of Perth and across the State the coloured surface treatment had to be durable enough to retain its vivid coloured delineation and skid resistant qualities for the long term whilst coping with the expected heavy traffic usage.

Solution

In conjunction with Brookfield Multiplex, Antiskid’s design department recommended installing Omnigrip CST coloured pavement and so this surface was specified. This product provides durable, safe and vivid colour delineation, and will stand the hard wear from thousands of vehicles, particularly because of the extensive use expected with ambulance and emergency traffic 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

CST is not only economical and ensures optimum safety for users but is also aesthetically pleasing, and available in a range of colours.

It was also important for the client that this solution be implemented quickly. The team at Antiskid planned and executed the solution to ensure minimal disruption.

This solution is low maintenance and will continue to be a dynamic feature for many years to come with minimal maintenance.

And the entire project was accomplished over the course of 24 hours. All told, an outstanding solution.
